According to British Medical Association, bigger-breasted women are consulting specialists for surgery, when the pain and discomfort can be abated by simply wearing the right bra.
Wearing a wrong-sized bra, although not dangerous, but is not good for long-term breast health. While a tighter one can restrict blood flow, causing mastitis during lactation, a looser allows the ‘cooper’s ligaments to stretch, causing sagging.
Why right bra style is important?
According to Sara Tervo, an undergarment expert, 70% of women wear wrong-sized bra. You can find a number of bra styles in the market, but just because they are available in your size doesn’t mean they will suit you too. You need to carefully choose the right one for yourself. It is important to know your figure and what style and size is right for you. A strapless bra is not good for smaller cup and band size. Although, you have flat to fab breast enlargement programs, but till you have full breasts, you should wear a bra apt for smaller breasts. Bandeau bras for instance are good for self-supporting breasts else you’ll like droopy and same goes for triangle bras – large breasts will spill with almost no support. For t-shirts you should go for light and simple bras, t-shirt bras are especially available for this. Bras with too much pattern and laces will show under your tee’s. So, before you go shopping for bra’s checkout for the following, because right bra can make your clothes look good and make you look sexier.
Its all about the right fit
What’s your size? : As explained by Le Mystère, founder and CEO Rabinowitz, you can measure your band and cup size, following the steps listed below:
For band size, use a measuring tape and measure around the upper bust, high on back. If the number is even, add 4 to get your band size, if the number is odd, add 5 to get your band size.
For the cup size, measure around the fullest part of your breasts. Now, subtract your band size measurement from this. The difference is your apt cup size is.
- less than 1 inch = AA cup
- 1 inch = A cup
- 2 inches = B cup
- 3 inches = C cup
- 4 inches = D cup
- 5 inches = E cup
- 6 inches = F cup
- 7 inches = G cup
Underwire is good: Underwire bras seem to be uncomfortable and you might slip into a soft, non-underwire cup. This creates problem, especially for full grown breasts. A good fit underwire bra should rest against your rib cage with a soft cotton casing. This will not only give support, but would be comfortable too.
Bra’s also die: With regular wash, the bra fabric loses its functionality causing the shabby fit. Although, hand wash helps the bra to last long, but bleach the bra until it looks dingy. Throw the white ones especially once they start looking grey.
Your friend’s best might not be good for you: There is nothing called perfect bra. The one that your friend flaunts may not be the right one for you. Everyone has a different body. Try several styles to get the most flattering one for yourself. Preferably try them under a t-shirt, as it shows the silhouette.
Focus on back too: The back band is the main support for bra. If the back band is loose, it tends to rise upwards, causing the breast to sag. This also shows up the unsightly back fat.
